 Discussion of Committee/Group Reports:

Social Action submitted its report at the meeting
There was no further discussion on any of the reports

Old Business:

  1. Assumption School- the idea of displaying pictures of the school’s progress was tabled until our financial responsibility with the project is disclosed
  2. Pre Cana Fr. Perry advised the diocese that he is interested in reforming our Pre Cana team.  The team would accept any engaged couple from the diocese and would probably meet once a year.  It was also thought that we could solicit a neighboring parish to supply more manpower for more teams.  As a result, we could present Pre Cana more than once a year. But due to the time consuming Pastoral Planning meetings, this has been tabled until later
  3. Steeple repair- Deflection pans were installed at the base of the steeple.  Hopefully, installing these will solve the leaky roof problem.  Now it is wait and see, if it indeed works.  The steeple is still in need of a painting.  Iaconelli will be supplying a crane and Pitney will do the painting.
  4. Amendment to election bylaws-tabled
  5. Outreach to Young Adults and Young Families- This project is an offspring of the Youth Ministry.  Peter Logue, Kristin Earl, and Pat Bentley are trying to focus on reaching the 20 to mid-30 year old adults.  One example of their efforts is offering baby sitting during the appreciation party.

New Business:

  1. Parish Council/Pastoral Planning meetings.  It was decided that in order to get all of the meetings in, that we were going to conduct both meetings on the same evening.  Before May 15, we are scheduled to hold 8 meetings. 2 before February, 4 between February and Easter, and 2 after Easter.  Because we are doubling up the meetings, Fr Perry noted that he would be unable to discuss in detail everything that he normally would like to.  It was asked if he could simply consult a member or two of council to get their feed back, instead of lengthening a meeting and discussing it in front of all.  Quickly he noted four items that he wanted to address in the near future:
    1. Remodeling the chapel/cry room to make it more warm & functional.
    2. Resurfacing the parking lot
    3. Carpeting the church
    4. Placing awnings outside the Parish Center doors.

After a quick discussion on each, it was decided that they were all worthy endeavors, and pending approval from the finance committee should be undertaken.
