 Discussion of Committee/Group Reports:

Nothing was added

 Old Business:

  1.  Chicken BBQ- July 23.  So far Carol states that everything is on track.  She has obtained the liquor license and should have the raffle license (50/50 & basket of cheer) by the end of this week.  Hopefully some more donations for the event will be made and the CCD kids have been tapped to lend a helping hand.  George Muller has ordered the chickens; Ray & I were both handed to-do lists.  Marge was asked to work on the wine & beer, and Carol will see Bob Wentz about ice cream
  2. Fr. Bob’s Retirement party-  everything went extremely well, the food was outrageous, and Carole, Marge and the rest of the committee were cited for a job well done
  3. Play group- Pat and/or Marge spoke to the diocese and insurance carrier about the legal issues that would be involved with such a venture.  According to them, as long as every child present has their parent present at ALL times, everything is ok.   Therefore, to make it work, stick guidelines have to be set up and enforce whereas no parent ever leaves their child in the care of another parent.  Fr. Perry will schedule a meeting with Susan to discuss this.

New Business:

  1. The Bishop’s Vision-  Bishop Galante’s has stated that the following course of action will be taken as a result of last year’s parish speak up sessions:
    1. Every parish must have acting parish council by  August 2006
    2. Every parish will recruit 2 volunteers, who will attend a diocese training session where they will be enlightened on the next phase the bishop’s vision plan.  These volunteer/facilitator’s of the bishop’s vision plan will then go back to their parish and explain the bishop’s message to the rest of the parish.  The bishop has requested that this  parish meeting take place between September 14 and October 6, 2006 .  Fr Perry has tentatively scheduled the meeting for either Thursday September 28 or Thursday October 5.
  2. The option of having another meeting during the summer has been given to Fr. Perry.  If he decides to have one, he would simply contact me, and I would get the word out

Open Forum

bulletIt was mentioned that some parishioners are still wondering if the Tuesday & Thursday evening mass would be reinstated with the new pastor.  Fr. Perry assured us that this will not happen.  Furthermore, it is a sign of the times.  Due to the lack of vocations, if anything, we should expect more cut backs in the future.  Once a mass is cut, it is cut for good.  Pray for vocations.
bulletAs for the Assumption School project, it appears that all of the state & local approvals have been granted; now it is up to the diocese to make the next move.  As of today, no ground breaking date has been set.

 Summary of topics discussed:

Those Pending:

bulletA purpose for having a Family Life Committee
bulletThe draft of the amendment for our election bylaws
bulletMore specific numbers from the diocese regarding the Assumption project, specifically the subsidies and what is expected from the capital campaign.

Those Closed:

bulletAdd Assumption Regional School phone numbers to our telephone listings.
bulletHow to develop Susan Lorge’s interest forming a play group

Those Tabled:  (nothing noted)
