Discussion of Committee/Group Reports:

bulletParish Outreach Committee reported a diocesan workshop “Journey of Discipleship” to be held Saturday October 29 at Camden County High School .  Anyone interested should contact Joan Parker .  Frank also mentioned that his committee will begin their third phase of evangelization work.   The first two phases involved reaching out to the active and the inactive Christians.  This third phase will involve reaching out to those with “no church” affiliation.  Frank stated that there is an average of 3600 people per parish that are not affiliated with any church and that 36%of them would respond to an invitation if asked.   Hopefully some of them, when asked will attend a meeting November 29 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Linwood ( 7-9pm ).
bulletLiturgical Committee’s minutes some how got lost in the process of emailing them to me.  Addie highlighted some of the minutes:
bulletThe planning for Advent has been completed
bulletShe mentioned problems with the Altar Servers.  This issue has been addressed.
bulletThere likely will be a meeting for all Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors to reinforce their training and to get everyone on the same page.
bulletThe issue of the attendance was also addressed.  It appears there has been too many no show.

Old Business:

A.     Facilities Update

·        90% of the garage is completed.  Remaining are some sidewalk work, the apron and rain gutters

·        A group from our parish visited St. Catherine Drexel’s parish to critique their parish center.   The group felt that Drexel’s facilities mirrored ours, and they liked what Drexel had accomplished with their building.  As a result, the idea of remodeling our parish center will proceed further.  Bids for vinyl window replacements have already been requested.  Also bids are being solicited to replace the carpet, and to paint and furnish the rooms.  The only item that may require a permit is the ramp to the front door.  The project could conceivably be completed by Spring 2006 at a cost of $50-60,000

·        Matt mentioned the need for a new audio mixer.   And the fact that elevated pews is being constructed for the choir.

B.     Good news in the Election Process update.  On Ray’s suggestion, we realized that having an election may not necessarily be necessary.  Having Fr. Bob (the pastor) appoint the officers has successfully worked so far, so we opted to continue this process.  Matt will create another draft amendment for the bylaws and will present it at the next meeting.

C.     New Regional School update-  it is still scheduled to open

New Business:

  1. On October 19 at Campbell ’s Field in Camden , a closing celebration for the Year of the Eucharist is scheduled for 10:30am
  2. 150th Anniversary of the first mass on Absecon Island will be commemorated with a mass on October 23 at 10:30am
  3. Catechist Congress-this item was already mentioned under Parish Outreach’s Committee Reports. The diocesan workshop “Journey of Discipleship”.
