 Discussion of Committee/Group Reports:

Parish Outreach Committee: (unfortunately his report was lost in transmission and not pre-distributed to council)

  1. They are currently conducting a “Catholics Returning Home” program.  Tomorrow night, they will conduct their second meeting.  One person showed up for the first meeting, three for the second, and five for the third.  Tomorrow’s meeting will involve Bible Study and it will be conduct by three graduates of the Bible Institute.  Blair was commended for the job he did in promoting the event.
  2. Teaching the Eucharist is another ongoing 6 week project.  The responses to these short readings at mass have all been positive.  Besides the reading, a paragraph is also placed in the bulletin, the Catholic Update has been inserted into the bulletins, and a 20 minute continuously running film on the Eucharist was presented.

Children’s Religious Education: (unfortunately her report was also lost in transmission and not pre-distributed to council)

            The missing report mentioned:

bulletCommunion count
bulletConfirmation count
bulletA Lenten coin collection project that netted over $1400 and will be used to buy chalices and vestments

Discussion then took place regarding how noisy and irreverent the congregation was during the Communion mass.

Building & Grounds Report

Ray was asked to put together a list of capital improvement ideas that he felt were needed.  Some of these were:

bulletThe sign still needs to be fixed
bulletWindows in the front of the church
bulletThe lighting in the church
bulletBoiler upgrade (pump needed)

It was also noted what a great job our new landscaper (Dennis Mulligan) was doing

Youth Ministry:

Although Pat was absent, it was noted that her “True Love Waits” program was a success and it probably will be an annual event.

Publicity & Community Events Committee

It was noted what a fine job Blair did advertising the “True Love Waits” program and the “Catholics Returning Home” project.

Old Business:

  1. House of Charity.  The drive is completed, and our parish has surpassed 100% of its goal.  The exact numbers will come out at a June 22 meeting that Ted & Kevin will attend.
  2. This year’s parish mission is scheduled for Sept 25-29
  3. Evangelization:  was discussed earlier in the meeting
  4. Election Update:  Still no candidates to replace our current officers.  A meeting is planned to take place between Fr. Bob, Matt, Kevin, and myself to further discuss this issue.

New Business:

Chicken BBQ:  Again there will be a push this year for new volunteers to help with this event.  The need for a on sight refrigerator was also mentioned.  Their next meeting will be May 25th.

 Open Forum

Judy Transue addressed the council noting that this year’s Suite Inspiration Christmas concert will be their 10th anniversary concert.  In an effort to do something above and beyond to commemorate the event, she wanted the councils input on perhaps a dinner/concert event.  Although nothing concrete was stated the following suggestions were made:

bulletInstead of a dinner, hold a luncheon after the 11:00 mass and follow the luncheon with the concert.
bulletDecember 5 was suggested as a good date, although this would have to be verified as being open.
bulletIf tickets were to be sold, ticket sales should be weeks before the event with an effort to keep the ticket price low.
bulletPermission was given to sell their music in the lobby of the church.
bulletFinally, Judy wanted our help in this promoting this as  a parish event

Summary of topics discussed:

            Those Pending:  Parish Council Election

Those Closed:  nothing noted

Those Tabled:  nothing noted
