Discussion of Committee/Group Reports:
Evangelization Committee has set Saturday June 21 for their next meeting.  At this meeting they hope to put together an evangelization strategy plan. The meeting will be after the
7:00 mass in the meeting room.  The Legion of Mary has also been invited to attend.

Religious Education- Laurita Miller has just completed a four year bible study course and is offering her knowledge to the parish.  She has requested to setup a four week adult bible study course in October (7-14-21-28).  Although the course has not yet been officially approved, Laurita plans on dividing the topics as follows:
1.
Overview of the Bible
2.
Prayer & Worship in the Bible
3.
Worship & Celebration in the Bible
4.
Roles & Relationships in the Bible

Old Business:

  1. Parish Plan:  Frank urged all committee leaders to finish evaluating the parish plan that was distributed at the last parish council meeting.  Either accept the plan as is, or note the changes to be made, and return their portion of the plan to Marge by June 23.  Five people at the meeting did not have a copy of the plan and requested one.  To date the following ministries have approved their portion of the plan: Evangelization Committee, Vocations Committee, and Community Events/Publicity Committee.  Whereas the following committees have promised to get back to Frank with their results:   Liturgical Committee, Religious Education, Social Action Committee, Building & Grounds, Family Life, and Youth Committee.
  2. Socials
    1. Chicken Barbeque:  There will be an organizational meeting tomorrow night.  Besides asking Suite Inspiration to play for a portion of the event, a radio will supplement the musical entertainment.  To make it more appealing for families with children, it was overwhelmingly suggested that it not be held indoors this year.  Joan also offered the services of her CCD children to volunteer.
    2. Coffee/Donuts after the masses:  This social will still happen.  In the fall, it is hoped to be a once a month event.  Once again it was suggested that the CCD children could volunteer for this.
    3. Bus Trips

                                                              i.      Momma Mia was a huge success.  It was enjoyed by all.

ii.      Trip to Sight & Sound is scheduled for Saturday September 9th to see “Daniel & the Lion’s Den”.  The bus will leave at 11:30 am and return at 10pm .  Depending on your age, the pricing will range from $52-$95 and include the bus, the dinner, and the show.

iii.      Trip to Radio City on Friday November 7th.  This trip will be initially offered to the members of the Youth Group.  Afterwards, other tickets may be available for the rest of the parish. $60 per person will include the bus and the show.  The bus will leave at 10am and return at 7pm .

iv.      Another trip for January to see “The Producers” is in the process of being put together.

                                                            v.      Fr. Bob still would like to see a parish dance organized.  A 50’s dance or a line dance theme was mentioned, but no one volunteered to lead the proposed project.

vi.      Pat again questioned whether or not there should be more family oriented socials.  It was at that time that it was decided to definitely move the Chicken Barbeque outdoors to make it more attractive to families with children.

 New Business:

  1. A welcoming party for new parishioners will be held Thursday September 18th.  Besides new parishioners, this event is usually attended by our 2 priests, 2 deacons, religious education coordinator, and the president of the parish council.
  2. Fr. Egan will once again be joining us in July.  He is scheduled to conduct a Summer Spirituality Series based on the Spirituality and Life of Padre Pio.  The series will be conducted on two Wednesday nights late in July from 7:30-9pm .  A possible road trip to Padre Pio’s shrine may also be in the works.
  3. Parish Mission :  although it is scheduled for November 30th, Fr. Bob has still not heard from Fr. MacCarthy.  Blair has promised Fr. Bob to work as a liaison between the two and get them in contact with each other.

 Open Forum

Parish Council Mass:  it was decided that spending more time in prayer together was a good idea, so a mass for the council and all ministries of the parish has been scheduled for Thursday October 2 at 7pm.

Fr. Bob gave the entire council a big thank you for their work and commitment.

 Next meeting

Monday  September 8th    Time 7:00 pm

Carole will lead us in prayer
