Community Events/Publicity-submitted by Blair Learn & Carol Johnson
Family Life- Submitted by Ted & Joann Malecki

The following committees submitted their reports after the due date (first Monday of the month).  These reports were not emailed to the council members.  However they can still be viewed at our website.

Discussion of Committee/Group Reports:
Family Life:
Joanne has set up 2 dates for this year’s in-parish Pre-Cana:

March 23 & 30             October 19 & 26
To date there are 15 couple to be married this year, 3 have signed up for the March sessions, and 4 for the October sessions

Old Business:
A.  Stewardship:

bulletLast Tuesday a group met to compile some of the answers from the survey.  Another meeting is scheduled for tomorrow night.
bulletThe evangelization committee is in the process of contacting 28 parishioners, who responded to help on with their ministry.  Frank Blee advised us that there is a spreadsheet in the rectory listing parishioner’s names and the ministries they would be interested in joining/helping.  Joan Parker has agreed to copy the spreadsheet and make it available to everyone.
bulletA handout, “Volunteer Lay Leadership Training Options-Pastor Feedback” was distributed.  It lists 9 programs and requests our input on their value to our parish.  The nine programs are:
  1. Called & Gifted
  2. The 4 C’s of Collaboration
  3. Honing your public speaking skills
  4. Preparing to lead
  5. Facilitating Small & Large Groups
  6. Preventing & Managing Stress at Home & Elsewhere
  7. Valuing Diversity at the Interpersonal Level
  8. Caring for th Sick & Shut-ins in your Family & Parish
  9. Spirituality and the Work Place

Bob Wentz suggested that we pick a topic, value it, and report back at the next meeting.

B.  Donuts:

bulletfee & donuts will be served after this Sunday’s 10am mass.  Although it is hoped that this event succeeds and becomes more frequent, there is a fear that parking will become a problem.

 C.  Parish Trips / Socials:

bulletVolunteers to lead this project were requested via the bulletin.  Fr. Bob stated that a couple of people have responded and hopefully this project is underway.

 D.  Appreciation Dinner:

bulletMany favorable comments were made, especially for the food.
bulletThe negative comments were:
bulletWe should have had 2 buffet lines & possible self-serve
bulletThe music was too loud in some areas.
bulletSpecial thanks were given to Fran Capola for her time and decorations and to Weisbecker cleaners for donating the linens.

 New Business:

A.  Changes in Liturgy:

bulletOur parish is now implementing these changes.  Fr. Carlton was commended for noting the changes during his masses.  Instead of simply enacting the changes, he took the time and explained what he was doing differently and why.

 B.  Procedures for new parish council elections:

bulletBob Wentz noted that unless we hold elections this year, some of our officers will be required to serve longer than the 2 years requested from Fr Bob.
bulletWe read the bylaws for the council and the terms are for 3 years
bulletI suggested that a president should never be elected, rather the vice president should replace him.  Since the meeting, I have emailed Fr. Bob, Matt, & Bob Wentz on exactly how this could be accomplished.

 C.  Deanery Pastoral Council:

bulletIn an effort to improve the communication structure of the diocese, Bishop DiMarzio is strengthening its deaneries.  Just like the 126 parishes are divided into 10 deaneries, the pastoral parish councils will also be grouped into deaneries.  Two to three people from each parish’s pastoral parish council will represent their parish in this Deanery Pastoral Council.
bulletIn addition to this council, the diocese also has a Diocesan Pastoral Council.  It was noted that our parish was fortunate, because 2 of the members on this diocesan council are also members of our parish.  John Armstrong is a territory representative and Addie Blee represents the field of religious education.

 Open Forum

Parish Council photos have all been taken, and they will soon be mounted in the church.

bullet

Blair has been busy helping a local family recover from a fire.  Any assistance we could provide would be well appreciated.
