must be made prior in person by either parent. PRE-BAPTISM
WORKSHOPS: These workshops are given on the
last Tuesday of every month in the MARRIAGES:

arranged in plenty of time before the marriage. PARISH

new parishioners are welcome to our parish family .
Please register at the parish center. We would appreciate you letting
us know when you move into the parish or when you move away from the parish. A

appreciated. Your priests
are here to be of service to you in every way—to share your joys and
sorrows, laughter and tears. We
take seriously the words of Jesus “The Son of Man came not to be served but
to serve and to give His life for the ransom of many.”

current month on the last Tuesday of each month at ENVELOPE SYSTEM: Regular use of envelopes provides a stable income to the parish. A record of contributions is kept and will be made available to contributors. STEWARDSHIP:
The THEME FOR TODAY’S MASS…Worldly wealth will pass away, while the treasures of God’s Kingdom last forever . The wants and ways of the world are fruitless. To worry about the abundance of possessions and other earthly rewards usually separates us from God’s blessings, which endure. Growing rich in the things that pertain to God, such as faith and love, may not gain an earthly reward, but does offer us the reward of eternal life in heaven. EIGHTEENTH
SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First "Vanity of vanities." Sometimes we may
work for wealth, wisdom and knowledge only to discover that it has been left for
some one who did not toil for it. The offering of our work, fatigue and pain, if
not for God, can also be a kind of vanity. Second Paul urges us to seek what is good and from God,
encouraging us to put our minds on the spiritual.
He reminds us that, as Christians , we have died with Christ and are
hidden with Christ until his glory is once again revealed. We are all one in
Christ. Gospel: Luke 12:13-21 On being requested to settle a question of
inheritance, Jesus heeds us to beware of all covetousness because our life does
not consist on the wealth of possessions. Through the lesson of a parable Jesus
reinforces this teaching, explaining that those who store up the treasures of
wealth and possessions are not the richest in God's eyes. STEWARDSHIP

Reflection Title:
Rich Stewards “Then he said
to the crowd, ‘Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be
rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.’” (Luke 12:15) The Gospel
message today is so contrary to our modern culture where advertising continually
tries to convince us that our value lies in the many things we possess.
Jesus showed us that our true value lies in the way we live our lives.
He challenges us to not store up or hoard material possessions.
Rather, to live a Stewardship way of life where we strive to be
rich in that which matters to God. ************************************ SANCTUARY CANDLE … The

DeRitis (609)641-0667 HIS WORD TODAY By Rev. William J.
Reilly EIGHTEENTH
SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME “Take
care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does
not consist of possessions. Then he told them a parable. ‘What shall I do, for
I do not have space to store my harvest?’ And he said, ‘This is what I shall
do; I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones…’ Thus will it be for
all who store up treasure for themselves but are not rich in what matters to
God.” We can, or we should
fill in the verses which are not cited above, for we probably have something of
the rich man in all of us. The parable applies to every aspect of our life. Some
years ago a teacher reminded us that the people who came to the Today, the gospel
mandate of Jesus is a good reminder. We have all been blessed with an abundance.
How true this is. Even when we seem to struggle, look around. Nearby the
unemployed, uninsured, homeless can and should speak to our hearts. The resources of our
world are consumed by a small percentage of the world’s population. We are the
consumers. We plough crops under, provide subsidies for not working the land,
while others starve. Pope Benedict constantly reminds us of the need of the
common good. As a gesture of my own
awareness in response to this parable, think of one thing you can do without
this week, and make sure someone benefits because of my awareness. In this way
the parable takes on real meaning. WEDDING
